ROAD TO HOT WATER BEACH DAIRY COMPANY’S SUPPORT The Mercury Bay Dairy Company wrote to the August meeting of the Coromandel County Council, offering £6o' towards the cost of the suggested road from Hahei to Hot Water Beach, the sum to be payable as soon as earth formation is completed. A considerable discussion arose in which Cr. E. M. Minifie maintained that a saving of 24 miles a day on tyres could be effected if the road as suggested was put through. It was pointed out 'by the clerk, Mr J. H. Lucas, that the council could not construct a road across Crown Land and private property. It was finally proposed by Cr. E. M. Minifie and seconded by Cr. T. E. .Simpson, that an estimate of the cost of survey and legalisation of the road be obtained.” —Carried.
