KEENLY SOUGHT
DAIRY CATTLE AT WAIHI STORE STOCK SELL WELL The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report that at their stock sale held at Waihi on Thursday, a very large yarding of all classes of cattle came forward, beef and boners remaining firm at late rates. The entry of store cattle also sold well at recent quotations. The demand for a large yarding of dairy cows and heifers, close to profit, was very keen, prices being on a par with
recent sales, but small and backward sorts were not keenly sought after. Bidding for a small entry of pigs was steady, a good sale resulting and hoggets also sold well. Quotations :■— Sheep.—Fat hoggets, to 27s 8d; forward conditioned hoggets, to 21s 9d. Cattle.—Heavy boner cows, £4 to £4 15s; medium, £2 15s to £3 12s; light, 39s to £2 ss; empty heifers, £2 10s to £3 10s; yearling Jersey and Jersey-cross calves, £2 14s to £3; 2year S.H. cross steers, £7 3s to £7 17s; 2-year M.'C. steers, £5 to £6; yearling S.H. cross steers, £4 to £4 Ils; Jersey and Jersey cross heifers close to profit, £8 to £9; later calvers, £6 10s to £7 15s; small and backward sorts, £5 to £6; Jersey and Jersey cross cows, close to profit, £9 to £11; later calvers, £7 10s to £8 15s; low conditioned and backward sorts, £5 to £6 10s.
Pigs.—Store pigs, £2 to £2 7s; weaners, 15s to 255.
