PAEROA HARRIERS
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS COURSE FOR SATURDAY RACE FROM TE AROHA On Saturday next the Paeroa Harrier Club will conduct their CrossCountry Championships. The course will be the same as for the Waikato Championship course. The Colts’ championship should result in a very interesting race between A. Currie and G. Vlahovich who after their good showing in the Waikato Championships should have a great tussle for the major honours. Of the rest of the runners the most likely harrier to spring a surprise is L. Wheeler. In the Junior Championship a repetition of the Waikato Championship may be witnessed, between the Waikato champion, T. Morrison, and the runner-up J. Fowler. Harrier enthusiasts will remember the epic struggle of these two harriers over the last quarter-mile of the championship a fortnight ago. T. Sweeney after his slashing race may be relied upon to fully extend the champions although he may find the experience of the former a big handicap. Vuglar Should Run Well M. Vuglar, if he starts, s libit Id have little difficulty in winning the Senior’ Championship. A newcomer in D. Barlow who is reported to be very fit may upset calculations. F. Sharp, after his win in the handicap of the Waikato Championships may be relied upon to run a good race. - Run From Te Aroha In view of the Auckland Centre modified marathon of 15 miles the senior members of the Paeroa Club propose, having a run from Te Aroha to Paeroa in two weeks’ time. After the excellent performances of the juniors in the Waikato Championships a challenge has been issued to Hamilton for an inter-club teams race over a five-miles course to foe held in Hamilton on a date to be arranged later.
