Sgt. A. B. Parton, of Paeroa, is reported as missing on operations in a recent casualty list of the Royal Nev; Zealand Air Force. His father is Mr A. Parton, of Paeroa. At Wednesday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council the wharfinger employed at the Turua wharf, Mi* F. U. Bell, wrote tending his resignation as from September 1 on account of ill health. The council in accepting the resignation with regret instructed the clerk to write to Mr Bell expressing appreciation of the service he had rendered. Mr Bell was also granted a month’s pay as a mark of appreciation.
