HAURAKI LODGE
COROMANDEL ODDFELLOWS TWO SOLDIERS WELCOMED The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Hauraki Lodge was held in the Lodge Room, Coromandel, on Monday, July 19. The N.G., Sister J. Notman presided over a record attendance of members. A cordial welcome was accorded to Bros. Jack 'Perfect and Ivan Lundberg who have just returned from overseas and the honours of the Order were conferred on them. Bro. Lundberg replied on behalf of himself and Bro. Perfect, thanking the members for the cordial welcome and saying that he had hoped to attend a lodge meeting while in Eng-, land, but for some reason the Army always had other ideas on a meeting night. He said they were both very pleased to be back. A welcome was also accorded to Bros. Edgar and McKinley. The secretary read the half-yearly balance sheet which was duly adopted. After the Lodge prayer the meeting closed and the social part of the evening commenced. A splendid supper was served and the toast to the guests duly honoured with a cup of tea. Once again Bro. Lundberg replied on behalf of the shy young soldiers. He spoke of the enjoyment they had all had eating the good things provided, which were so welcome after the old army biscuits and fare. After supper dancing and games took place till a late hour when the billy was boiled up again and a second supper enjoyed.
