WELCOMED TO COUNCIL

MR R. W. LOWRY TAKES SEAT OHINEMURI COUNTY COUNCIL On taking his seat on Wednesday for the first time as a member of the Ohinemuri County Council, succeeding ex-Councillor M. A. Ellis (resigned), Councillor R. W. Lowry of and Mrs Zeigler, Messrs Robinthe Komata riding was welcomed by the chairman, Mr W. Marshall. The chairman stated that having known Councillor Lowry for a number of years and recognising his interest in local body affairs and public life in general, he believed that the new councillor would be an acquisition to the council.

He said he felt sure that Councillor Lowry would contribute to the team spirit jand wide outlook of that council, which always tried to avoid a parochial view in its affairs. Councillor Lowry gratefully acknowledged the welcome of the chairman and his fellow councillors and said he hoped he would be able to follow in the steps of Mr Ellis. He had noted with satisfaction that the council had always striven to keep the rates as low. as could reasonably be expected And it would be his aim to help in maintaining that policy.
