DAIRIES CLOSE TO PROFIT PRICES AT WAIHOU STOCK SALE The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report

that at their stock sale held at Waihou on Thursday a good average yarding of beef and boner cows came forward. Competition was steady and prices realised were on a par with recent late rates. A good yarding of yearling Jersey heifers sold well at advanced values. A good yarding of empty Jersey 2-year heifers also came forward, these selling at recent late rates. A very large entry of dairy cows and heifers was yarded, including the two advertised herds. Bidding for cows close to profit was keen but backward sorts were not sought after. A light yarding of pigs was penned. These consisted of porkers and stores, for which the demand was very keen, values being in advance of other centres. Quotations: — Cattle. —Good Friesian and Shorthorn Cross fat cows, £6 to £8 2s; heavy boner cows, £4 to £5 4s; medium, £3 to £4; light, £2 to £3; potter bulls, £4 to £5 ss; 2 : year empty Jersey heifers, £2 4s to £3 3s; good Jersey heifer calves, £4 4s to 1 £4 18s; lighter, £2 to £2 6s; young Jersey an& Jersey-cross cows, close to profit, £9 to £los 10s; older cows, £7 10s to £8 10s; later calvers, £6 to £7; good Jersey and Jersey-cross heifers, close to profit, £lO to £l2 10s; others, £8 to £9 15s; low-conditioned and backward, £6'ss to £7 10s; heifers in milk, £8 10s to £9 15s. Pigs.—Heavy porkers, £ 33s to £3 6s; medium, £2 12s to £2 18s; store pigs, 34s to £2 4s; weaners, to 225.
