GIRL GUIDES

VISIT OF COMMISSIONER INSPECTION AT COROMANDEL The District Commissioner of Gsrl Guides, Mrs Harrison, of Whitianga, paid her quarterly visit to the Coromandel Company on Saturday, July 3. At 2 p.m. she was escorted from her car by Capt. Carey and the colour party, and inspected the company in the Methodist Hall. After a short musical game, guide work was then tested by the Commissioner. Later, afternoon tea was served by ladies of the committee, of which the following were present, Mesdames D. Strongman (president), Q. Batson, U. Inglis, A. King and Miss Russtell. The Commissioner then enrolled two recruits, Dawn Glogoski and Joyce Martin, and welcomed them into the Guide Movement. In a few words, she expressed her pleasure at again visiting Coromandel and greeting so many sister-guides, after which she thanked the ladies of the committee for their wonderful assistance. Miss Shirley Benham presented Mrs Harrison with a posy and Capt. Carey thanked her for her visit which had proved both enjoyable and instructive. The meeting closed withthe singing of “Taps.”
