TO BE BUILT IN PAEROA
NEW OFFICE ACCOMMODATION SOCIAL SECURITY DEPARTMENT Mr James Thorn, M.P., has lately been in communication with the Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Works, with respect to the construction of the new building for the accommodation of Departmental Offices in Paeroa. Mr Semple states that every effort is being made to get ahead with the erection of the building, and that the matter has been under review quite .recently. It is understood that the Building Controller will allow the building to proceed, but the difficulty at the moment is to get the working plans and specifications drawn. Mr Semple adds in his letter to Mr Thorn that the Government’s architect’s Auckland staff is very busy with plans, but the matter was taken up with the district engineer in May last, who hoped that in approximately two months’ time it might be possible to allocate staff to this work. It is considered that the plan and specification work will occupy the period of one month and the construction period from four to five months.
