NGATEA FAREWELL

MR & MRS J. GALVIN HONOURED GATHERING OF FRIENDS

Several friends of Mr and Mrs J. Galvin Snr., of Ngatea, gathered at the home of Mr and Mrs A. Courtney one evening last week, to wish them good luck in their new venture. Music and dancing was enjoyed by all present. A delicious supper was also served, after which Mr W. W. Williams on behalf of the gathering said how sorry everyone was to see the Galvins leaving Ngatea. ’ However, the change was only as far away as Turua, which would not prevent them all from getting together once in a w’hile. A circle was formed around the guests of honour and their son Jack and “Auld Lang Syne” brought an enjoyable evening to a close. Music was supplied by Mrs J. Darlington, Mrs H. Darby and Mrs W. Williams. A toast to the boys in the was heartily honoured and in this, Mr and Mrs Galvin’s son, Pilot-Officer Alwyn Galvin, R.N.Z.A.F., Canada, was especially remembered.
