PAEROA ISSUE CHALLENGE MEETING OF RUGBY UNION GAMES FOR NEXT SATURDAY A meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union was held in the 'Gazette Office on Monday night, the chairman, Mr D. G. McMillan, presiding. Others present were Messrs C. Pascoe, G. Masters, J. Carmine, K. Ryall, A. Crosby, W. F. F. Faber and the secretary, Mr H. McGregor. Leave of absence was granted to Mr R. L. Darley. Accounts totalling £3 Is 0d were passed for payment. The secretary was instructed to write to the Thames Valley Rugby Union asking for a grant of £lO to purchase footballs for the local schools.
Gate takings on Saturday totalled £2 19s 6d while donations amounted to £3 13s 6d.
It was arranged that the senior team play Waihou Home Guard at Te Aroha on Saturday. Mr D. G. Me-
Millan was appointed manager. The match for the third grade team will be against Te Aroha at Paeroa. Mr G. Masters was appointed manager.
Messrs Faber, Crosby and Ryall were appointed selectors for the season with Mr Faber as coach.
It was decided that in future the admission charges be men Is, ladies 6d for all senior games and 6d for the third grade games. It was decided to issue a challenge to the Thames Rugby Union for the Johnson Cup. Appreciation of the services rendered to the sport by Mr S. I. McIntyre was expressed by members and it was decided to forward a cheque as a mark of the union’s appreciation and esteem.
