TWO STRETCHERS
EQUIPMENT FOR NGATEA W.W.S.A. APPLICATION DECISION OF PLAINS COUNCIL A decision to purchase two' stretchers with blankets, etc., for the Hauraki Plains E.P.S. was made at Wednesday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council in response to a request for same froPi the Ngatea W.W.S.A. Mrs M. Dalgety, chairwoman of the Ngatea W.W.S.A. wrote to the council as under:— , “The W.W.S.A. has as you know, a well-equipped cupboard of medical and first-aid -supplies for the use of the district in any emergency. Would it be possible for the council, which I believe represent the E.P.S., to donate two stretchers with blankets, etc., to complete the cupboards. “The W.W;S.A. does not hold any funds at all except sufficient to pay insurance premium due this week so if the E.P.S. could be responsible for insurance after the coming year it would be a great help. The chairman, Mr C. W. Parfitt, said he thought the council could donate two stretchers. Mr J. W. Neate agreed the council could assist. Mr W. H. Cheale pointed out that
the Netherton W.W.S.A. had purchased all the equipment they had needed with funds they had raised themselves. “If we give to one we will have to give to all,” added Mr Cheale. . The clerk, Mr E. A. Mahoney, explained that if the stretchers were purchased by the Hauraki Plains E.P.S. the council would have to find one-third and the 'Government twothirds. On the motion of Mr C. W. Schul/z and seconded by Mr Neate it was agreed to purchase the stretchers asked for.
