LEAVES TO BLAME
j WATER OFF ON PLAINS PURIRI INTAKE BLOCKED WATER SUPERVISOR’S REPORT Due to the intake at Puriri becoming blocked with leaves the East Water Supply on the Hauraki Plains was shut off for a time during April, reported the Water Works Supeivisor, Mr J. Bradford, to Wednesday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council. The report read as under: — East Water Supply “In the early part of the month the intake at Puriri was blocked with leaves and shut the supply off, the creek was in flood and trouble was experienced in crossing Canoe creek on the track up. “Two angle cocks were repaired, one at Kopuarahi and the other at Peka Peka road. “Some of the dead end mains have been scoured out and air valves inspected. West Water Supply “A Sin- pipe-line leading from the mainfo the ferry house had to be renewed. This whole line' needs renewing, the pipes are badly rusted from outside. “One service connection was renewed, the pipe pusher having to be used.
“Two broken service pipes, one at ,the Hauraki Plains Motors and one at Mr Ganley’s Waitakaruru, were repaired.”
