PARKING OF CARS
DANGEROUS PRACTICE BOTH SIDES OF ROAD INSPECTOR’S RECOMMENDATION \ Stating that the practice of parking of cars on both sides of the road on the Paeroa-Te Aroha Main Highway in front of Dr. F. L. Clark’s residence was dangerous and might be the cause of a serious accident, the traffic inspector, Mr R. B. Doggett, suggested to Thursday night’s meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council that a “No Parking” sign should be erected to prevent vehicles parking on the far side of the road. Traffic Inspector R. B. Doggett re-, ported to the council as under: — “I would like to suggest that a ‘No Parking’ sign be erected opposite Dr. Clark’s residence on the Te Aroha road. This would then only allow cars to be parked on the side of the road nearest Dr. Clark’s residence. “ I have noticed recently that people are in the habit o£ parking their cars on both sides of the road, which does not leave much room for other traffic and may result in an accident if allowed to continue. A sign may have the desired effect as I am unable to always be in the locality when the people leave their cars.” The Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, said he had noticed the cars on both sides of the road opposite Dr. Clark’s residence and definitely agreed with the traffic inspector.
It was agreed to adopt the inspector’s recommendation.
