TO BE PROSECUTED
. NEGLECTFUL RATEPAYERS BLACKBERRIES IN DRAINS A lengthy discussion regarding what action should be taken against ratepayers who refuse to clear blackberries from the board’s drains after being notified to do this, took place at Thursday’s meeting of the. Thames Valley Drainage Board. The board had obtained a legal opinion on its rights in the matter and was advised that it was a breach of its by-laws for- any ratepayer to allow noxious weeds to grow within ten feet of the edge of its drains'. In, such cases the board would be quite justified in prosecuting for any such breaches. It was decided to notify some of the worst offenders and to advertise in the local newspapers circulating in the district of the board’s intention to prosecute for breaches of the by-laws. •The resolution included those who have already been notified to clear’ < their noxious weeds. .
