Borough Accounts Accounts totalling £5064 11s 5d were passed for payment at Thursday night’s meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council.

Borough Donation At Thursday night’s meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council it was decided to make a donation of £2 2s Od to the fund recently opened for the purpose of making a presentation to the retiring matron of the Thames Hospital, Miss K. N. Ansenne. Planting of Iceland Poppies “The flower plot at the corner of Normanby road and Arney street has been dug over and Iceland poppies are being planted there,” reported the Works Committee to Thursday night’s Paeroa Borough Council meeting.

Rainfall In Paeroa A total fall of 1.21 inches of rainfall was recorded in Paeroa during the week-end, the heaviest experienced for some time. The reading taken at 9 a.m. on Sunday morning disclosed that the fall had amounted to .1.13 inches, while the reading this morning was .08 inches, a total of 1.21 inches.

Flagpole On Primrose Hill “The flagpole on Primrose Hill which blew down during the last heavy gale has been re-erected. The pole was painted before being put up, the work being completed in time for the flagstaff to be used on Anzac Day,” reported the Works to Thursday night’s meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council. Borough Council Meets The monthly meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council was held in the Borough Chambers on Thursday night, the Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards presiding. Others present were Messrs H. M. Shand, C. C. Webb, B. Gwilliam Snr., F. Sparks, J. Walmsley, D. G. McMillan, W. Smith and the actingtown clerk, Mr A. A. Jenkinson. Leave of absence was granted Mr E. S Moore. t
