THE FIRST RUN

PAEROA HARRIERS’ CLUB

COURSE ON SATURDAY

On Saturday in gloriously sunny weather, the newly-formed Paeroa Harrier Club held their first run of the season. A good attendance of harriers and enthusiasts assembled at the Paeroa Domain grandstand from which the run started. After explaining to the competitors the principles of harrier running, F. Sharp led the pack over a 3i-mile course.

Several of the competitors performed exceptionally well, particularly T. Morrjson, who showed that with his long striding action and abundance of stamina he will do very well as the season- progresses. M. Wallan and R. Manning are two who should also do well.

Those three well-known track athletes G. Payne, M. Vuglar and J. Fowler, were amongst the leaders all the way and as the season progresses these three should be seen fighting out some thrilling finishes. After the run the ladies provided afternoon tea which was greatly appreciated by the members. Next Saturday the club will . held another run from the Domain at 3 p.m. and cordially invites any new members to come along.
