“THE BEST MAN”
TRIBUTE TO MR MARSHALL I OPINION IN TARANAKI COUNTY COUNCIL EXECUTIVE When discussing a Whakatane County Council proposal that the members of the New Zealand Counties Association Executive should be elected on a ward sys-
tem the chairman, Mr J. C. Best, of the Stratford County Council last week paid a tribute to the Ohinemuri County Council chairman, Mr W. Marshall, of Paeroa.
“To my mind the best man on the executive is a man named Marshall from Paeroa,” said Mr .'Best, “and it would be possible under the proposed system for him to be left off.” Under the proposed system some of the best men might be left off the executive, s'aid Mr Best, yet on the other hand the ward system would give a better coverage and might eliminate some of the old members who had been on the executive too long.. The council, and also several other councils in Taranaki, have given support to Whakatane’s project.
