WOMEN’S DIVISION
MEETING IN COROMANDEL OFFICERS FOR YEAR ELECTED The annual meeting of the Coromandel branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was t held in the Catholic School room on April 17. Mrs W. Evans presided over good attendance of members. Members stood in silence in sympathy to Mrs Fisher and Mrs Sowman. The president’s report and the bal-ance-sheet were read and adopted. The election of officers for the ensuing term resulted as follows: — President, Mrs C. E. Anderson; secretary, Mrs E. M. Lucas; treasurer, Mrs A. T. Carlson; vice-presidents, Mrs W. Evans, Mrs J. McNeil and Mrs Lynn; advisory committee, Mrs Evans and Mrs Notman; delegates to provincial meetings, president, secretary and Mrs Preece; committee, the president, secretary, treasurer, two trustees, Mesdames J. Ecclestone, A. J. Ecclestone, Wilson, W. Preece and Miss Blithe.
It was proposed by Mrs McNeil and seconded by Miss Blithe that Mrs Evans be thanked for her services during two years of affice, also Mrs Turner for her term of office as secretary.—Carried with acclamation. Miss Griffin, the oldest division member, then handed beautiful bouquets to Mrs Evans and Mrs Turner, together with a gift for each from the members as a token of their appreciation of their services to the division.
Mrs Evans and Mrs Turner suitably replied. The meeting then closed with the National Anthem and a dainty afternoon tea was served.
