ROLL OF HONOUR

TWO LOCAL MEN WOUNDED PAEROA AND PLAINS SOLDIERS The following local names were included in the casualty list issued recently by the Second New i Zealand Expeditionary Force: — Wounded Adams, A. E. G., Mrs J. Adams, Paeroa (mother). Hicks, G. V. (L.-Cpl.), Mrs E. M. Hicks, Turua (mother). KILLED IN ACTION PTE. W. W. BROCKLEBANK Pte. William Wilson Brocklebank, who is reported in a recent casualty list of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force as killed in action, was a well-known member of the staff of the New Zealand Railways stationed in Paeroa.

Born at Huntly in 1916 Pte. Brocklebank, is the only son. of Mr and Mrs W. G. Brocklebank, of Huntly and husband of Mrs N. I. Brocklebank, of Cullen street, Paeroa. He was educated at the Huntly District High School and entered the employ of the New Zealand Railways in 1936, being stationed at Paeroa for thq last six years prior to joining the Army. While in Paeroa Pte. Brocklebank was prominent in sporting circles being a past president of the Paeroa Railway Tennis Club and a member of the Convent Old Boys Football Club: Being o/'a friendly nature, Pte Brocklebank was popular both among his fellow employees and ail with whom he came in contact. He married Miss Norah Sherriff, of Paeroa. He leaves his widow and one small child.
