.An innovation sb far as Waikato primary schools are concerned is being tried out by Mr W. A. Curteis, headmaster of the Hamilton East School. In order to encourage children to take up public affairs in later life and to cultivate the habit of “thinking on their feet,” classes are held in which the scholars have a free and open discussion on varied matters. The custom is for the teacher to ask questions ; the pupils then air their views.
