PAEROA FIRE BRIGADE
ANNUAL MEETING. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The Paeroa Volunteer Fire Brigade last evening held its thirty-fourth annual meeting and election of officers. After a good amount of business had been transacted a discussion arose on the matter of motor vehicles parking upon or near Are plugs. The Act requires that no such vehicle shall park within six feet of a plug. In addition, a member of the brigade gave his own time to paint large white identification marks on the pavement opposite the plugs. In spite of this motorists still violate the law in this respect. The brigade decided that it could go no further in the matter, but hoped that publicity in the Press might assist. For the election of officers Superintendent Moore surrendered the chair to Secretary Malcolm, who called for nominations for the post of superintendent. As it was the unanimous and enthusiastic desire of the brigade that Superintendent Moore should continue in command for the next twelve months, the secretary declared him duly elected and called upon deputySuperintendent Moore to instal the chief.
The deputy’s remarks and the superintendent’s reply were enthusiastically received. With like enthusiasm 3pd undivided confidence the deputy-superintendent, E. Moore, the forenlan, H. J. Wilton, and the secretary, C. W. Malcolm, were returned unopposed to office for the ensuing twelve months. During the past twelve months the brigade has mustered 36 times, seven of which have been fire calls.
