THE AERIAL TOUR.

COMING VISIT TO PAEROA. NORTH ISLAND ITINERARY. The following communication has been received from the secretary of the Aero Club concerning aeroplane visits to certain centres in the North Island :— “I am now in a position to give you information regarding the North Island aerial tour which has been organised by my club in an endeavour to encourage interest in aviation. Flyhas become so common in New Zealand within the last twelve months that it excites no great interest; but it is not yet recognised by the general public that aviation, elsewhere in the world is a commercial proposition, and it is safe to say that if New Zealand were able to organise a chain of landing grounds aviation would increase within the next few months to ten times its present volume. Apart from this phase, several aero clubs arc now operating and training pilots, who automatically hire ’planes, not only for pleasure flights but also to journey from place to place, and unless landing grounds arc available the use to which these ’planes can be put is very limited. My club is therefore organising a flight of ’planes—anywhere between three and five—to visit the various centres in the North Island, in an endeavour* to promote interest, and I enclose herewith an itinerary of this tour. “The local aero club, Mayor, and Chamber of Commerce in each centre have been communicated with, and they are working in co-operation to make the visit the spectacular event that it undoubtedly should be. An invitation has also been extended through the Mayor to the children attending schools in your district, it being realised that probably the best form of education that can be carried out is that supplied to the young.” The Itinerary. Following is the itinerary : — October 2 : Leave Auckland 9 a.m., arive Paeroa 10 a.m ; leave Paeroa 3 p.m., arrive Te Aroha 3.15 p.m. October 3 : Leave Te Aroha 10 a.m., arrive Cambridge 11 a.m. ; leave Cambridge 3 p.m., arrive Te Awamutu 3.30 p.m. October 4 : Leave Te Awamutu 9 a.m., arrive Auckland 10.30 a.m.
