The Public Works Department in a letter to the Piako County Council drew attention to the condition of a 25ft. span bridge located approximately 56 chains from the Waikato county boundary on the TahunaOhinewai main highway. This bridge was becoming considerably distorted, and was in a very dangerous condition. Considerable settlement had taken place, and it would appear that remedial measures, were necessary, or even replacement of the bridge. The engineer and riding member were instruetd to inspect the bridge. The total length of the subsidiary drains constructed by the Lands Drainage Department on the Hauraki Plains is now 613 miles.
