« PAEROA STOCK SALE. There was a full yarding of cattle at the Paeroa stock sale on Monday, including big entries of dairy cows. All classes of cattle met with a ready sale and sold mostly at late quotations. Best dairy cows and heifers made from £lO 10s to £l3 ss, others £9 5s to £lO, backward £7 10s to £9, aged and inferior £5 10s to £7 ss. Beef was sold under keen competition, best beef cows making from £ll to £l3 10s, others £9 to £lO 15s ; good killable cows £7 10s to £8 15s, forward cows £6 to £7 ss, others £4 15s to £5 15s. Yearling Jersey heifers made from £5 5s to £6 15s, rougher sorts £4 5s to £5. Fat sheep and ewes and wethers sold at 37s ; fot hoggets 28s to 335. Store pigs, large, brought 30s, slips 255, and weaners to 17s. CAMBRIDGE HORSE FAIR. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., reports :— At Cambridge on September 10, 11, and 12 we held our annual Spring Horse Fair, and had an entry of 511 horses, consisting of 94 unbrokens, 289 draughts, and 128 light horses. We report a most successful sale, buyers being present from North Auckland, Feilding, King Country, Gisborne, and all parts of the Waikato. Very few horses were passed in, 450 changing hands. The top price of the sale was obtained by Messrs Barron Bros., of Manawaru, for a draught 4-year-old gelding, £5O ; and two draught geldings, 3 and 4-year-olds, on account of R. D. Fisher, of Cambridge, realised £47 10s and £47, these three horses being purchased by Mr R. D. Knight, of Longburn. A draft of 40 unbroken medium draughts from Gisborne averaged £l7 15s, making from £l2 to £26, but one unbroken 3-year-old heavy draught gelding, on account of Mr C. Ramsay, Tauwhare, realised £35. Good active draughts made from £35 10s to to £5O, medium draughts £2B 10s to £34, young useful light draughts £22 to £3O, spring cart sorts £l5 to £2l, aged heavy draughts £lB to £24, hacks £lO 10s to £l6, ponies £4 10s to £6, Shetland ponies £4 to £5 10s. A thoroughbred filly by Depredation— Sphinx realised 27gns.
