SUMMER SPORT.

CRICKET AT TURUA. UNION WITH ORONGO CLUB. As both the Turua and Orongo cricket clubs found themselves numerically too weak to carry on during the coming season, a union was effected at a meeting on Tuesday evening, when it was decided to re-form the Turua club. Mr J. Tynam, who presided, was elected chairman, Mr J. Mules president, Mr G. Jenkins secretary, Mr K. S. Graham club captain, Mr G. Jenkins vice-captain, Messrs C. Pierce, G. McCowatt, and J. Tynan delegates to the Hauraki Plains Cricket Association, Messrs K. S. Graham and J. Corbett selectors, and Messrs G. Jenkins, K. S. Graham, A. H. Sutton, C. McCormick, G. McCowatt, A. Houton, and M. Dando the executive committee. Messrs J. Tynan and J. Corbett were nominated as umpires. The membership fee for the season was fixed at 10s for seniors and 5s for juniors if paid by December 31, otherwise 15s and 7s 6d. The grading of players was left to the selectors. The promise of a donation of a bat was received from Mr J. Christie. The matter of providing luncheon for visiting teams was left to the committee to consider, as also was the matter of arranging for practice matches.
