VETERINARY MATTERS.
THE PLAINS CLUB. The executive of the. Hauraki Plains Farmers’ Veterinary Club held its monthly meeting at Ngatea on Tuesday evening. Mr C. W. Schultz presiding over Messrs C. Vagg, W. Jones, E Martin, and C. A. Gibson (secretary). Resignation. Mr McCarthy wrote resigning hts position on the executive committee as he was leaving the district. The resignation was accepted and a motion was carried expressing appreciation of his services. It was decided to ask Mr W. Clark to accept office to fill the vacancy. Overdue Accounts. A course of action to recover certain overdue accounts was decided upon. ■ Sale of Car. It was reported that the club’s car had been sold to the new surgeon. Membership. Three new members were admitted. Surgeon’s Report. The surgeon,’ Thomas A. Aris, reported having made 17 visits to 15 members during the first fortnight he had been in the club’s employ. Most of the eases had been in connection with calving, milk fever, and paralysis. Accounts. Accounts totalling £46 were passed for payment when sufficient funds became available. Sharemilker Members. The question of not admitting sharemilkers to membership unless their subscriptions were paid in advance was raised by Mr Martin in view of the fact that the club had experienced a loss due to a sharemilker leaving the district while owing money. It was pointed out that all subscriptions were payable in advance, and that efforts should be made to collect them during the season. The position should be carefully watched by the committee,, and no exception made in the case of sharemilkers.
