MILITARY NOTES.

THE HAURAKI REGIMENT. Lieutenant V. J. A. Cooke, Ist battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated April 21, 1929. Special Courses. The following special courses will be held during the training year 1929-30 ’ Physical and recreational training : Trentham, August 18 to 24, 1929 ; two n.c.o.’s from Hauraki Regiment. Infantry Training : Trentham, September 15 to 21, 1929 ; two n.c.o.’s from Hauraki Regiment. Signal Course : Trentham, September 22 to October 5, 1929 ; fourteen officers and n.c.o.’s from Hauraki Regiment. Advanced Machine-gun Course : Trentham, September 29 to October 12, 1929 ; two officers and n.c.o.’s from Hauraki Regiment. Platoon Weapons : Trentham, October 13 to 19, 1929 ; two officers and n.c.o.’s Hauraki Regiment. First Aid : Trentham, October 13 to 19, 1929 ; one lance-corporal from Hauraki Regiment. Machine-gun Tactical Handling : Trentham, October 20 to 26, 1929 ; two officers from Hauraki Regiment.

Secondary Schools, general course : Narrow Neck, January 27 to February 1, 1930 : all officers and n.c.o’s. Non Secondary Schools : Narrow Neck, September 23 to 28, 1929.; all officers and n.c.o’s. Senior Officers’ Tactical Course : Cambridge, August 22 to 29, 1929 ; commanding officers, field officers, and senior captains if specially selected.
