MINISTER OF LANDS.

PROPOSED VISIT TO PAEROA. LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS. The Minister of Lands, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, is scheduled to arrive in Paeroa from Waihi on Monday evening. He will first of all receive deputations at the Borough Chambers, and afterwards will be entertained to dinner by the members of the Ohinemuri County Council and Paeroa Borough Council, a dinner at which the wives of councillors will be present, Mrs Corbett accompanying Mr H..M. Corbett on his last official appearance as chairman of the Ohinemuri County Council. The deputations will bring forward the matter of the Paeroa-Pokeno railway, the opening up of access to the Awaiti block, as brought forward by Mr H. Hill to the Minister of Labour on his visit ; and one or two other subjects. The proposal of Thames to establish public reserves will be mentioned to the Minister, with the information that the Paeroa Borough Council heartily supports the movement, and the question of having the Waitawheta Gorge declared a scenic reserve will probably be introduced.
