FOOTBALL.

PAEROA RUGBY UNION. WEEKLY MEETING. The regular meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union management committee was held on Monday night, Mr J. Crosby, chairman, presiding over the following : Messrs J. C. McDonald, W. Neil, J. W. Pratley, H. Robinson, J. Walmsley, T. C. Arnold (Referees’ delegate), W. Pearcey (Pirates delegate), C. Vincent (East delegate), and W. A. Fathers, hon. secretary. Gate Money. The gate money taken on Saturday last amounted to £5 12s 6d at Paeroa and £2 2s 6d at Hikutaia. Registrations. Considerable discussion took place concerning applications by several clubs for registration of players, it being in the union’s power after the first round to allocate players to the various clubs as it thought fit. The following two registrations were granted : East Club, seniors, L. McNeil ; Suburbs Club, seniors, J. Duncan. The secretary was instructed to notify the Suburbs Club that the registration of A. O’Hara would be granted subject to his clearance and qualifications being in order. In connection with the registration of A. Killock and B. Burkhardt for Pirates, it was decided that that club should furnish qualifications and clearances in writing. Pirates applied for the registration of J. Gilpin, but this senior player was allotted to East. The application of McQuarters for a transfer from East to Pirates was refused. P. Wynard’s application for a transfer to West was held over until next meeting, pending a clearance from Pirates. Referees’ Reports. Mr Arnold undertook to see that the referees’ reports were handed in to the secretary before each Monday’s meeting. The Third Grade. Mr G. McKee was appointed sole third grade selector for the ensuing season. It was agreed to leave the arrangements for the third grade match on Saturday next to Messrs J. C. McDonald and J. Walmsley. The approval of the draw for the season would be decided at the next ordinary meeting. Grounds and Times. It was arranged that for Saturday next East v. Suburbs senior match be played on No. 1 ground, commencing at 3.15 p.m., and the West v. Pirates senior match be played on No? 2 ground, commencing at 2.45 p.m; The third-grade game between either East or West and Suburbs was fixed for No. 1 ground at 2 p.m. as a curtainraiser. Playing Areas. The chairman reported that the grounds would be in satisfactory order by Saturday next. Referees for Saturday. The following referees have been appointed to control matches to be played on Saturday next : — Seniors. —East v. Suburbs, Mr F. T. V. Johnson ; West v. Pirates, Mi - T. W. Jonas. Juniors. —West v. Suburbs, Mr H. Neil. Third Grade.—Mr C. Rolton.
