FOOTBALL.
PAEROA RUGBY UNION. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. Mr J. Crosby, chairman, presided over a meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union committee on Monday night. Finance. On the question of the balancesheet Mr Crosby explained how satisfactory arrangements could be concluded for paying off the outstanding debts, a proposal that was fully discussed and finally approved by the committee. Ground Rental. ’ A communication was received from the Paeroa Borough Council placing the rental of the ground the same as last year, an amount which was agred to. Colours. It was decided to adhere to the usual colours—green. Jerseys and Flags. Mr E. Shaw volunteered to look after the jerseys and Mr Neil the flags, offers which were accepted. Affiliation. East, West, Pirates, and Suburbsclubs applied for affiliation and were accepted. East and West proposed fielding senior, junior, ' and thirdgrade teams ; Suburbs, senior, junior, and possibly third-grade ; and Pirates senior only. Registration. All names submitted were accepted, barring those of two Hikutaia players whose case was left over for further investigation as to which grade they belonged to. Timekeepers. This matter was left in the hands of Mr Robinson to arrange, as of last year’s officials Mr Butler had decided not to act again and the attitude of Mr Slyfield was doubtful. Selectors. Considerable discussion ensued over the question of electing selectors, opinion being divided as to whether to appoint them at the moment or defer until the next meeting. As the competitions would commence on Saturday, on the suggestion of Mr J. Walmsley a decision was reached to hold a. special meeting on Friday at 8 p.m. to finally decide. Gatekeeper and First Aid. Mr B, Sheriff was reappointed gatekeeper, and Mr W. Smith appointed as first-aid attendant. Admission. Admission was fixed at Is for men and 6d for ladies. Starting Times. Starting times were fixed at 2.15 p.m. for juniors and 3 p.m. for seniors. School Football. Information was received that the local school would not be "fielding a third-grade team this year. Draw and Number of Rounds. It was recommended that the number of rounds for senioi- and thirdgrade teams be three, the junior grade to be decided upon at the next meeting. Draws for Saturday next resulted as'' follows Seniors.—Pirates v. Suburbs ; East v. West. Juniors.—West v. East; Suburbs a bye. The future draw is to be arranged at the next meeting. Matters For T.V.U. Meeting. It was decided, to bring up the following subjects at the Thames Valley Rugby Union meeting on Saturday : The question of third-grade weights ; certain Paeroa players, instead of playing in their town, playing for outside teams ; sending away of a junior T.V.R.U. team as well as a senior; the recommendation that the Poland Cup for seniors and the Sharebrokers Cup for juniors consist of two, rounds if possible. Band. On Mr Crosby’s suggestion Mi- Neil was deputised to interview Mr Fallon with a view to securing the services of the band under Mr Fallon’s tuition to render a selection of music at the opening game on Saturday. COMMENCEMENT OF SEASON. TEAM FOR SATURDAY. The following team has been se-. lected by Mr G. Neil, selector, to represent East seniors in the match against West on Saturday :— H. Mayne, D. Allison, J. Williams, B. Lloyd, J. Kushabah, J. Fraser, W. Barrett, C. Treanor, E. Neil, W. Neil, H: Mitchell, F. Fitch, W. Mason, E. Johnson, W. Nealie. Emergencies: H. Moore, H. Williams. Players are requested to be at the dressing-shed at 2.45 sharps
