ApriL .1928, being 346, and at the present dafei 367. That of the secondary department increased! during the same period from 59 to 66. The total nUim.ber on the roll during 1928 was 393 in the primary department and 62 in the secondary department. At the roll numbers are : Primary 403, secondary 73. The above figures disclose a very satisfactory state of affairs. The increase iu the secondary departmejttt has secured for. the school the appointment of an extra teacher, Mr F. L. Cassidy, who is fully qualified to teach commercial. subjects. This allows the pupils the choice of a commercial or academic course of instruction. whichever course is chosen by the pupils, the committee are pleased to state that the tuition .will be in capable hands, as the .work of the secondary department undler Mr E. G. Preston, assisted by Miss Taylor, has been of a very high order. The committee feel satisfied that the public of Paeroa have a high, school which is second to none, and that, with the addfed assistance above mentioned, pupils will receive a sound preparation or any walk in liffe. T.he same satisfactory state exists in the primary department. The tone of the whole school speaks volumes for the ability and general' management of Mr G. H. A most enjoyable day was spqnt by all concerned, and the trip also proved to be a valuable one from an educational point of view. Dental Clinic. Some idea of the value of the den. tai clinic, may bq gathered' from the following figures : Pupils treated 372, extractions 697, filling 1385, minor operatitins 486. As the figures speak for themselves jt seem* scarcely necessary to stress the importance of the work. The excefllence of the work carried out by the dentaj nurse, Miss L. C.
