FOOTBALL.
PREPARATION FOR SEASON. ANNUAL CLUB MEETINGS. EAST CLUB. The annual meeting of the East Football Club called for Monday night was, after a little of the business had been transacted, adjourned for a week in order to find a secretary to carry on the work. THE WEST CLtJB. At a meeting of hte West Club in Bain’s Buildings on Monday evening, Mr E. Edwards, president, took the chair,' there being some 35 members present. The chairman in his opening remarks congratulated the three teams on their respective successes during the past season. After the minutes of the last season had been read and adopted the following officers were elected : — , Patron, Mr R. W. Evans ; president, Mr E. Edwards ; vice-presi-dents, Messrs G. E. Allen, J. Crosby, E. S. Masters, J. Silcock, H. Shand, E. V. Slyfield, E. W. G. Smith, H. Poland, and T. O. Williams ; club captain, Mr L. C. Masters ; secretary and treasurer, Mr D. R. Fraser; auditor, Mr J. J. M. Crosby ; general committee, Messrs V. Carrick, J. Crosby, S. Kerr, F. Knight, L. Masters, K. Page, H. Shand, K. Slyfield, J. Vcrran, and J. Walmsley ; delegates to Rugby Union, Messrs J. Crosby, E. Edwards, 11. Shand, K. Slyfield, J. Walmsley, and the secretar.; representative at Paeroa Rugby Ujiion, Mr J. Crosby ; senior selectors, Messrs V. Carrick and H. Shand ; junior selector, Mi' T. Williams ; third-grade selector, Mr S. Kerr. It was decided that the subscriptions should remain as in previous years, 5s for seniors and juniors, and 2s 6d for third-grade players. A medal donated by Mrs Masters was received, it being left in the hands of the committee to decide what it should be awarded for. A resolution of thanks was passed to Mrs Masters for her gift. A medal was also received from an anonymous donor for the third grade. A motion was unanimously passed that a practice match be played on Saturday, the 13th, all players to turn out, for the purpose of selecting the three teams.
A vote of thanks was passed to Mr W. Bain for the use of his room, and on the motion of Mr Edwards a vote of thanks was passed to last season’s executives and those who had aided the club in the past, as an expression of appreciation of then’ services. . The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair. The following new members were enrolled : Messrs J. B. Beagly, M. Bramble, N. Campbell, T. Campbell, C. Crawford, Gooding, R. Howard, C. McKinnon, K. Page, I. Vause, F. Williams. PAEROA RUGBY UNION. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. At last night’s meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union the following officers were elected :— Patron, Mr H. Poland ; president, Mr W. Marshall; vice-presidents, Mrs J. Corbett and Messrs J. Brenan, M. Crosby, E. Edwards, A. P. Grant, W. D. Nicholas, E. Shaw, T. P. Vuglar, J. Walmsley, and J. Young; secretary pro tern, Mr J. Walmsley ; Auditor, Mr .G... .E. Allen ; committee, Messrs Bf'-'Rhbinson and W. Neil (East Club), J. M. Crosby and L. E. Shaw ( West Club); M. Crosby and E. Shaw (Suburbs Club). Representatives of the Pirates Club were absent, while Netherton and Karangahake have no clubs this,year, .
