CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES GAMES.
The club’s championship singles matches wqr.e played on Saturday by the Paeroa Lawn Tennis Club, the trophy for men being the Marshall Cup and that for the ladies being the Club Presentation Cup. Play resulted as follows ;— MARSHALL CUP. First Round : Spooner beat McMillan, B—6, 6—3 ; Simpsbn beat E. Lee, 6 —3, 4- 6, 6 —2 ; Rusjton bqat H. Lee, 6 -1, 6—o ; Thorp a bye. Semi-final: Spooner, beat E. Lee, 6—4, 7—5 ; Thorp beat Ruston, 9—7> 6—2.
Final : Spooner beat Thorp, B—6,8 —6, I—6, 6—3, 5—7, 6-4.
CLUB PRESENTATION CUP.
First Round: Miss J. Ellis beat Miss A. O’Neil, 6—4, 6—l ; Misjs V. Shand beat Miss G. Milroy, 6—2, 6—2; •Miss H. Taylor a bye. Semi-final: Mis,s S.handi beat Miss Taylor, 6 —4, 6—2 ; Miss Ellis a bye. Final: Miss Shand beat Mi&4 ®Dis, 7-5, 6—4.
