ENGINEER’S REPORT.

Th.e Thames Valley Electric Power Board’s engineer, Mr N- G- McLeod, reported to yesterday’s, board meeting on opei,ations carried out in thq Paeroa district sinc.e the last meeting of the board as follows :—

“Ngatea.—On account of, the dredging of the river it was necessary t<? raise the lower ll,o*oo-volt cable o>n December 4. It was r.elaid on January 18 in a new position specially prepared for it higher up the river. Certain alterations and wer.haul were carried out on the section during the period, supply to the western side; of the river being given through the Pipiroa cable. “At 11 a.m. on December, 28 the temporary 11,000-volt cable above the Ngatea wharf broke down through being damaged by the propeller of the s.s. Waipu. Supply was restored within an hour. The cable has since been removed.

“Pekapeka Road.—This line has been overhauled, straightened, and blocked, and anchor stays taken up where required. The low tension has been re-sti,ained and adjusted. “Pipiroa Corner. —The low tension wiring from the transformer to the pumping station has been replaced by 7-14 cables to deal with the increased loading, “Hamilton’s Road, Turua.—The low tension has been extended about eight chains to supply a new consumer. , “Wharepda Road. —The low tension on the road to the old ferry has been overhauled and re-strained.

“General Overhaul.— Blocking and straightening of poles has been done on Bush Road, Maukorpi Canal, and Turua. The low tension has, been restrained and overhauled on Rawerawe Road, and poles in paddocks barbwired.

“Hayward’s Transformer, Ngatea — The transformer which was. at Hayward’s has been removed to near Schultz’s tpi give better supply. Extensions.—-A short extension of the- low tension was made on the top end of Matatoki Road, to give further supply. A 13-ehain low tension extension was made on Bond’s Road, and a 7chain extension in Miller’s Avenue, Paeroa, to. supply further new consumers. ' “Hikuta.ia Ferry Road.—On account of growth of load the original low ■tension wire has been replaced; by--7-14 wire from the transformer to Vedder’s Rcpd. The; line has been overhauled generally and eight bad poles replaced. These pales had been included in Inst year’s list for renewal.”
