THAMES VALLEY ASSOCIATION.

MANY FIXTURES AHEAD.

Many, important matters, in connection with the Thame's, Valley Tennis Association were discussed at a meeting of the; management committtee of the Thames Vallqy Lawn Tennis Association, held at Paeroa oil Wednesday evening. An invitation was to hand from the' Waikato Lawn Tennis Association to send a combined team from the; Valley and Hauraki. Plains to play at Hamilton on March 9th. Representatives from the Hauraki Plains Association wejre present to discuss this proposal and it was* finally decided to accept the invitation and to suggest that the team be made; up of 12 nfen and 12 ladies. The selection of the teams was left to Mr Garland, of Thames, who knows tile ability c£ the playe;rs both in the Valley and the Plains. The question of. a return match at Matamata with the Waikato East, sub-Association was considered. It was found, however, that it would be difficult to arrange a suitable date until late in the season, and thus; i.t was decided to stand this fixture over until th'q 1929-30 Reason. The Easter, tournament will be the Thames Valley championships, to be held in Te ArcJia this year. The programme will include handicap qvents as well as the championships. It was to leave the management of the tourney to the Committed of Te Arcfia pl.ayqrs, as was done in the previous year, when the organisation was a tribute to that committee. tourney will extejndi from Good) Friday until Easter Monday, and visiting competitors to the town during that period will be royally entertained and trips will be arranged to places of interest. CLUB COMPETITIONS.

Thq inter-cltib competitions will be continued on Saturday, February 2, when Paeroa meets Hikutaia at Paeroia. and Te Aroha makes the trip to Thames. In the S grade Te Aroha will play at Te Aroha on that date also. It was stated that Mr ti. L. Mills, of Te Aroha, had donated a trophy—a handsome silver Clip—for competition amongst the B gr.ade teams in the association.

A letter was received) from the Puriri Club asking for matches in the B grade. It was decided to write to the puriri Club stating that in the event of tlrqir affiliating matched would be arranged for the remainder of the season, as requested.
