MEETING OF COMMITTEE.
SWIMMING GALA ARRANGED.
A meeting of tire committee of th® Paeroa Swimming Club was field on Monday night, the following being present: Messrs W. D. Nicholas (P r ® J sident), Miss Cocks, Messrs G- S. Talboy, Priestley, S- Denize, A. A- J® n ’ kinsan, F. Hayward, and H. V. Cocks (hon. secretary). A resolution sympathising with Mr F. G. Williams, a vice-president of the club, owing to his illness, was passed, and hope was expressed that lie would soon be to health.
A letter was read from the town clerk stating that all active members of the c.lub should be in- possession of a season, monthly, or daily ticket when attending on the club’s evening at the baths.
The president stated that this was, what had been arranged with the Borough Council, and) had obtained from the inception of the club. Mr E. W. Seville, secretary of the South Auckland Centre, wrote giving a list of the clubs affiliated with the centre, and also giving the definition of an amateur and the procedure f<> r reinstatement.
Notice of a special ineqting of the South Auckland Centre to be held in Cambridge on February 4 was received, and the president and secretary wejre appointed delegates. Messrs Hayward and Watson were appointed a sub-committee to arrange novelty events for the club evenings. Thirteen new members were elected. It was decided to hold the next club races for the points prize on Thursday, the 31s,t inst., the distances to be 33 1-3 yards fptr boys, girls, and ladiep, and 66 yards for men ; entries to close on Tuesday, 28th inst. It was decided to recommend all members to purchase their badges, and also to make a c.onditian that members taking part in club events should wear their badges. SEATING ACCOMMODATION. The president reported that the Borough Council hail decided to grant £l9 towards the purchase of material for seats, provided the club undertook the erection of the spats and gave ,10 Per cent. o£ car.nival gate receipts. These conditions he had accepted on behalf of the club. The action of the; president was confirmed. The secretary' .was instructed to call a working bee of members as soon as the timber arrived. SWIMMING GALA. It was decided to hold a swimming gala on the evening, of February 14, and the following programme was drawn up :— ,
C.hilijren under 12 years: Acjbss the baths, a pr,ize to be given to each competitor. 331-3 yards handicap each for boys and girls under, 14; for boys and girls under 17; and for ladies and mep. 66 2-3 yards handicap each for ladies and men. 100 yards handicap for men. Neat dive competition for ladies and mien. Dual relay race and several novelty events.
