ODDFELLOWSHIP.

DISTRICT GRAND MASTER’S VISIT. EVENING AT PAEROA An event of paramount interest to Manchester Unity Oddfellows Lodges was the official visit of the; District Grand Master, Bro. W. Gubb, P.G. of Taukau, to Paeroa last evening. The N.G., Bister Mary Bertelsen, t who presided over the meeting, welcomed the D.G.M. and visitors from Loyal Karangahake Lodge, Loyal Hot Lodge (Te Arbha), and Loyal Netherton Lodge. The D.G.M. addressed the meeting, thanking the lodge for, its reception and touching on matters of finance, lodge management, and membership. A special welcome was extended to Bro. c. GlP>ver, a member of the lodge who, following an accident on the Puke Road in May. 1928, has Spent eight months in the Thames Hospital. A resolution expressing appreciar tion of the services of Sister Ethel Freeman, P.G. who has left Paer.oa. was unanimously passed.

Euc;hrq and dancing followed the meeting, and were enjoyed by all present, the prizes going to Bro. T. M. Wilkinson and Bro. W. Cranch (second). Dance music was supplied by Mr G. Vercoe.

A dainty suppqr was served by the sisters of the lodge. The local lodge, established in 1897, has continued to make steady pro gress, and through its instrumentality has been responsible for the opening of what has proved to be a progressive lodge at Netherton. The Loyal Netherton Lodge has in its, turn opened a lodge at Kerepeehi, so that the Jubilee Lodge has taken no small part in the success of Oddfellowship in’ this district and may rightly be' termed a “Grandfather” Lodge.

The Auckland district of Manchester Unity, with 60 established lodges; representing a membership of over 7000, extends to Gisborne on the coast and to Taumarunui,
