PLAINS RAINFALL.
A WET DECEMBER ANNUAL AVERAGE EXCEEDED. The rain gauge at the; office of the Lands Drainage Department, Kerepeehi, records that during the month of December rain fell on 13 days, the total being 4.35 inches. This is two-thirds of an inch above the December, average for the last 16 (years, and has only been exceeded four time's, in that period. The number of wet days was below the December average, but twice during the month there was over an inqh of rain—-for the 24 hours e;nded at 8 a.m. on the 10th, when the amount recorded was 1.07 inches, and on the 29th, when the gauge contained 1.35 inches. FIGURES FOR THE YEAR. The total rainfall for the year 1928 recorded at Kerepeehi was 47.30 inches, 5.18 inches above t,he average for. the last 16 year®. Some rain was recorded on I'so day% which is considerably below the average.
