HORSE RACES ON PLAINS
PERMIT GRANTED. KEREPEERI IN FEBRUARY. Through the good offices of -Mr A. ■M. Samuel, M.P., the; Hauraki Plains Sports Association has received permission from the Department of Internal Affair's; to hold a non-tota.]lsa-tor race meeting on the Kerepeehi Racec.oursq on February 16.
However, since this date was applied- for., the Te Aroha Racing Club has altered the date of its meeting from February 23 to February 16. To prevqnt clashing, the Hauraki Plains body, at a largely attended meeting at Kerepeehi last Friday evening, decided to ask for an alteration of date to February 23.
Mr H. Dent, of Ngatea, is president of the racing club and Mr J. E. Smith, of Kerepeehi, is secretary. Other officers have not yet been appointed/, but a committee comprising Messrs T. Scott, G. Courtney, F. Rogers, J. M. Thompson, and C. Pearce has the matter of preparing the track well i!n band.
