OHINEMURI COUNTY.
SPECIAL MEETING GF COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council was hejd yesterday, when there were present Mrs. H. M. Corbett (chairman), J. B. Morris, C. Mason, R. R. Morrison, A- R- Robinson, and C. E. Mace. REDUCTION OF RENT. The owtler of the New Talisman wrote asking for a reduction of rent and stated the amount he had paid out in prospecting the property. Cr. Morris considered that the application was a generous one, and on his motion the reduction of rent to 2s 6d per acre was agreed to, KAIMANAWA WATER SUPPLY. The chairman stated the pbsjtion in epnnection with the reticulation of the Kaimanawa area. He said! that the Thames County Council 'had been approached and an agreement entered into in connection with the supplyNothing further could be done until air agreement was signed by all settlers in. the area. SCHOOL BRIDGE. Cr. Robinson stated that the bridge across the drain leading to the Hikutaia West school was unsafe and required attending to. There were no funds in the school account for the work', .and he asked the council to renew the bridge. If the bridge was renewed a settler had madfe an offer to the committee to cart in ’sufficient gravel for the school playing area and the board wo.uld supply the tar. Cr. Morrison favoured putting In 3ft pipes and making it a lasting job, and do away with the bridge,. I,t was unanimously decided to empower. the engineer to improve the approach to, the school. It was decided to instruct the engineer to gravel the places, Where the motor lorries turn on Ferry. Road and at Vedder.’s crossing,
