BOWLING.

FDRBEST NIGHT-PLAY BUTTONS,

COMPETITION RENEWED.

There was unusual interest at the bowling green last night on account of the Forrest Night-play Buttons being unearthed. The epnditions of play for these buttons are challenge gafnes of 15 heads by full rinks, the winners to be known as the champion nightplay rink. The winners each receive a button, upon which is marked the position they filled in the rink. Last year the competition was not held. The game played last night was very exciting, and at the 15th head the scores were 13 all. Three more heads were played and the points were again even, at 15. A deciding head sajv a iscore of two and found the winners. The rinks were : Miss Gibb, Miss Silcock, Grant, and Ashcroft (skip) 17, v. Miss Morland, Miss Say, Knight, Tresidder (skip) 15. It is thought that there will be a good deal of excitement during the next few months with challenges for theke buttons-

In the ordinary night games there was not so much competition, only two rinks of three and oneo f four taking part. The rink skipped by Gibb registered the highest points. The games were as follows : — Mrs Taylor., Mrs Say, Gibb 24, v. Mrs Gibb, Miss Moore, Lowry J. 5 ; Riddell, Pye, Morland 13, v. Stevens, Taylor, Brocket 9 ; Mrs Barclay and Silcock 13, v. Mrs Hale and Hale 9.

On Monday next the first round of .the championship singles will close. The champion of champions has to be found by January 31, which means that the next round must be played off by then. For Christinas Day and Boxing, Day a tournament is to be held in which any member may take part.
