SEASON OF GOODWILL.
COUNTY COUNCIL ENCOMIUMS; VALUE OF THE PRESSAt the conclusion of the brief meeting of the Qhinemuri County Council yesterday the chairman, Cr. H. M. Corbett, took the opportunity of conveying the season’s; greetihgs to members. He .thanked them for their support, not only during la,st year but during the whole time be had been chairman. The county had undoubtedly advanced, and now it had its own machinery .to do the work he looked forward to greater improvements in the roads and to many years of prosperity. He also wished, to thank members of the staff for their loyalty and good: work. The same good wishes; were extended to the Press for the treatment the council had received during the year. The reports had been fair and very complete.
Members all reciprocated the chair-, man’s gpod wishes. In congratulating the chairman on his work, Cr. Robinson said: it was recognised that the progress made by the county was due t to the good work of the chairman, who had! stood) the main pressure during, the past year. Cr. Morris said that the council had made progress, and he personally thanked the chairman for the kindly consideration given to his riding.' Or. Morrison, in adding his congratulations and good wishes, said that the affairs of the council had been fair and square and above-board, and they all hoped the chairman would still represent his riding and continue his good work-
