RIFLE SHOOTING.
THE PAEROA CLUB. The Paeroa Defence Rifle <Club will fire a competition on Saturday at ranges 500 and 600 yards for a trophy donated by Mr R- Flatt. This shoot will count as the third' competition for. the club’s Championship and, 1 handicap aggregate. At a practice during the week, using mark VI. ammunition, as will be used by the New Zealand team in Australia in February, Captain Simmonds notched 103 out of a possible 105 over 300, 500, and 600 yar-ds ranges. This was dope done with a new barrel which he recently purchased for the trip and used for the first time with this ammunition. He says that riflemen must not expect these scores with mark VII. ammuni-i tion on issue to rifle clubs today. Mar VI., as used prior to the war, Is not now issued in New Zealand, the stocks having been exhausted, but it is still on issue in Australia.
