OPPOSITE ROYAL MAIL To be in keeping with the pr.osri perity and progress of the town Mr William Spry has recently made a very big alteration to what was known as Spry’s Corner. In fact, the old spot has been changed from a tumble-down building to a modern reinforced concrete structure that is a distinct credit to the enterprise of Mr Spry and also to Paeroa itself. The work of preparing the plans and erecting the shops was entrusted to Mr W. Marshall, contractor, who is to be complimented not only for the architectural work, but for. the splendid manner the work has been carried out. The fortunate man tc : occupy this stoie is Mr Frederick C. Bly th, who has had to extend his business very considerably in order to fill these up-to-date premises. The situation of the block from a business point of view is ideal, -commanding as it does easy access from the junction of four, streets, and the public will find it a most convenient shopping centre. This new shop Mr Blyth has completely stocked with new and up-to-date goods, which will be found in great variety. Perhaps the strongest point in the stock is the thousands of books of ali classes to be seen on. the shelves. Fiction by well-known authors from the cheapest reprint, to the latest novel, classics translation from the best Continental writers, and a varied selection from the great poets. -Books of travel, biography, essays, bells letters, etc,, are stocked in numbers and at greatly reduced prices. These books are quite new, and make a most acceptable gift. Just recently Mr Blyth purchased a line direct from England Ojf 500 Collins’ Pocket Novels, which ar,e a rei print of the 7s 6d edition, all by the best authors, and the titles are quite dp-to-date. These have found rapid sale and! already 350 have been sold, and an opportunity is now offering for the alert to purchase these at Is 6d for a single cop, six for Bs, and twelve for 15s. The Selection of books fqr children is most comprehensive, and comprises Children’s Annuals, reward books, story-books, and, in fact, everything that will interest the yqung will be found in this selection. A special discount is offered to schools purchasing books fop prizes. You cannot pass without having your attention drawn to the Circulating Library, which contains over. 600 books of up-to-date fiction. It is Mr Blyth’s intention to greatly extend this branch of his business during the coming year. An inquiry as to the terms of subscription to this library should be well worth while. The Stationery Department has not beep overlooked. In the order for new season’s goods is a large one of gift stationery, compendium Christmas cards, and calendars. The fancy goods purchased for the festive season have been selected- with care, and are well worth an inspection. An acceptable gift is a purse or handbag for a lady or wallet for a gentleman. These are shown in wide range, as also, are pictures, picture-frames, china and glass-ware, shaving sets, mirrors, shaving brushes, tobaccos, and cigarettes and cigars. In his preparation for Christmas Mr, Blyth has riot forgotten the kiddies. He has a display of all- kinds, of mechanical and wooden toys, dolls, teddy bears, and hundreds of qther interesting items too numerous to mention. ‘ In making this announcement Mr Blyth wishes to thank all his customers for their generous support in the past, and by rendering gopd service he hopes to merit the confidence, 'of not only his old customers, but new ones as well. A hearty invitation is given to all to call in and inspect his shop and stock. z Mr Blyth has on order ton the evening of the school a large stock of school requisites, and announces that the prices, consistent with the quality, will be most reasonable.
