WELCOME RAIN.
STEADY FALL LAST NIGHT. BENEFIT TO FARMERS. Very welcome rain commenced to fall over the district yesterday afternoon, and it continued intermittently throughout the night. It will dq an immense amount of good to farms and gardens. Since the vigorous spring growth the movement has been slqw and grasses have tended to r,un to seed, whilst the appearance of clovers has been, retarded; but as a result of last night's rain pastures will improve Wonderfully, and a vigorous growth of clover c.an be expected; Feed has not been short in the district; in fact, many farmers would give free grazing. to large mobs qf cattle to clean up the rank grass on their farms. The rain was needed to improve the quality of the feed and stimulate the clover. If good growing weather prevails for the next few weeks a plenti-; ful supply of feed for the remainder of the summer and good 'hay erpps appear to be assured;
