STORMY CONDITIONS AT PAEROA. IMPROVEMENT INDICATED. Quite storm sprang up on Wednesday afternoon, and in the evening the weather conditions were extremely unsettled, with a strong easterly blowing.. Later, when the wind lulled, heavy rain commenced and continued throughout yesterday- and well into, the; night. During the; night the wind veered round tq the northwest, and further heavy showej's came from that quarter. The rainfall for .the 24 hours registered by t;he Public Works Department from 9 a.m. yesterday was 1.90 inches. The indications as we go to press are for. an improvement in conditions.
