■Owing to the adverse weather conditions which prevailed c.n Saturday last the opening of the Paeroa Defence Rifle Club was postponed. The official opening will now take place cn Saturday* 27th inst. Particulars will be advertised later.

At a meeting of thei Paeroa District High Sclioc;! Committee on Saturday it was, decided to cqnvey congr.aj.ulatiejns to Mr D. W. Dunflop on his appointment as secretary qf, the Education Board. Mr Dunlop was for a number of years headmaster at the P t a,eroa schoql.

Members of the Hauraki Plains West drainage Board, in company with the agent for the makers, on Friday last inspected a drainwater pump recently installed qnj the Awaiti Canaj bank near Kerepeehi for. the Elsto.w Drainage Board. The pump has a capacity of 200,000 gallons an hour, an.’d is driven by a 15 h.p electric motqr, the whole outfit costing about, £2OO. iMembers of the board were impressed with the plant, and sought as much information .as possible,. which will be of us,ei should the board lin.d that pumping is desirable in its area.
