BUCKLEY RECAPTURED.
ARRESTED AT WELLINGTON. SEVEN WEEKS OF LIBERTY. WELLINGTON, July 17. The recapture was effected to-dh<y in Wellington by Detectives McLennan and Jarrold of John Buckley, who, with Frank Baller, a fellow-prisoner, escaped from Mount Eden gaol, AucJjP land, on the night of May 25. JJallgr was recaptured .at Shark Bay, Birkenhead, a few days after the escape. After several exploits; in the Birkenhead district Buckley made his way to the King Country and was later heard of at Kakahi, near Taumarupui. It was ascertained yesterday that tlie Wellington police had known for some days that Buckley was in the city. He was recognised one day last week by a constable, but managed to elude arrest. Although only 26 years of age, he has already declared an habitual criminal. Buckley, who is a .native) of England. will appear in the Magistrate’s Court to-morrow morning on a charge of housebreaking.
