THURSDAY’S SITTING AT PAEROA.

THEFT OF A BICYCLE. At the Paeroa Police Court yesterday a young man named Fernlcigh Dwight, labourer, Rotokohu, was charged with stealing a bicycle, valued at £l2, the property of W. Baiu, Paeroa. Accused pleaded guilty. Constable McClinchy stated that accused had been previously convicted of theft of bicycl.es, and had been placed on probation for two years. On this oecas/on lie had removed parts of the bicycle with the idea disguising it. In view of the previous conviction accused was fined £lO and ordered to pay 12s for repairs to the machine ; in default, two months’ imprisonment. FURIOUS RIDING. A youth named Leonard Ward, Waihi, was charged with funously riding a horse in Normanby Road, Paeroa, on May 18. Defendant, who did not appear, entered a plea of guilty. A similar charge was preferred against John William Bourne, farmhand. Evidence was given by Constable Dawson, and ea,cih defendant was fined; 20s, with 10s costs. CYCLING WITHOUT LIGHT. A charge of riding a bicycle without a light in Belmont Road on May 15 was preferred against Robert John McKee, farmer. Paeroa. A second charge of failing to carry a rear red reflector was also laid. Defendant, who did not appear, wrote pleading guity and), expressing regret for the breach. On the first charge defendant was lined 10s, .with costs 10s. .and on the second charge he was. convicted and ordered to pay 10s costs. NO TAIL-LIGHT. Joseph Carpenter, taxi-driver, Waihi, was convicted ami ordered to pay IDS costs for driving a motor car without a tail-light in Belmont Road, Paeroa, on May 29.
